A Christmas gift budget you can set in 20 minutes
Most holiday overspending isn't carelessness. It's that the list lives in your head, and your head is busy. Writing it down is most of the fix. Here's a short method that works on paper, no app needed.
1. Pick the total first
Decide the number you can spend across gifts, wrapping, shipping and the extras nobody counts, before you open a single store. Everything else comes from it. If the number feels tight, that's fine. It's better to feel that now than in January.
2. Split it by person
List everyone you buy for and give each person a limit. Put the biggest limits down first so they don't get squeezed at the end. It also helps to add a small "surprise" line for the person you forgot, because there's always one.
3. Log every purchase
Write the actual cost next to each name as you buy. Seeing a running total is what stops the extra "just one more thing" at checkout.
4. Check in once a week
Two minutes, once a week, with the page in front of you. If one person is running over, you can trim somewhere else while there's still time.
That's the whole method. The Holiday Gift Budget Planner is a printable that puts all four steps on one page, and it's also in the 105-page Christmas bundle. If you'd rather use a notebook, the method works just as well.
