How I pick Amazon deals (and what I skip)

Plenty of "deals" are the usual price with a red tag on it. Here are the rules I use for the picks on the deals page.

I show the number I saw

Each pick shows the sale price, the list price and the percent off, with the date I looked. Deals change fast, so I treat every price as a snapshot.

I check that the page matches the post

I open the exact page my link goes to and confirm the name, the selected style or size, and the price all line up. I added this step after I got one wrong, which I wrote about here.

I favor well-reviewed items

Top-selling items with a solid rating beat unknown brands with a flashy discount.

I skip anything I can't verify

If a price isn't shown on Amazon's own page, I don't post it.

Links on this site are Amazon affiliate links, so I may earn a small commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. That's how this site pays for itself, and it's why I'd rather be accurate than loud.
